Can you tell us about your background & How you got started in Fashion Design?
Designer Yannes Wong: I am Yannes Wong, the passionate founder and creative force behind the Hong Kong-based fashion brand Lapeewee, dedicated to innovative design and quality craftsmanship.
In 2014, I was honored to be a finalist in the "Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest" organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
My work has been featured in notable publications such as Timeout Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper’s BAZAAR, and Jessica.
Since 2013, Lapeewee has offered exquisite designs characterized by delicate craftsmanship, fluid lines, high-quality materials, and tailored cuts. We have showcased our collections in fashion shows across Hong Kong and Taiwan, reflecting our commitment to creativity and elegance.
Could you share the experience about how you felt when you designed the 1st time?
Designer Yannes Wong: Designing for the very first time was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking in equal measure. I experienced a complex mix of excitement and anxiety as I carefully translated my creative ideas onto fabric.
It was truly a profound moment of self-discovery, as I realised the depth of my passion for fashion. Watching my creation come to life before my eyes filled me with immense pride and inspired me to pursue this exciting journey even further wholeheartedly.
What is the name of the New collection featured in Centrestage 2025 & Story behind your new collection?
Designer Yannes Wong:
In our new collection, "Baroque Dream," we draw inspiration from Baroque style, seamlessly blending its lavish details with modern casual cuts.
This women's collection beautifully features plaid, denim, and lace fabrics, showcasing an impeccable fusion of fashion and comfort. Thoughtfully placed knot and drawstring details add dynamic, eye-catching elements, injecting a lively energy and unique character into each design.
What is the styles, we will get to see in this collection?
Designer Yannes Wong:
This collection will have the use of impeccably tailored vests that beautifully highlight and accentuate feminine curves, while oversized Dutch-style collars, delicately adorned with intricate lace details, enhance the overall elegance and sophistication. The collection thoughtfully maintains the luxurious essence and ornate richness of Baroque fashion, while seamlessly embodying the confidence, strength, and independence of the modern woman, resulting in stylish, distinctive, and truly unique garments.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a fashion designer, and how did you overcome them?
Designer Yannes Wong:
One of the biggest challenges I've encountered throughout my career is finding the perfect balance between nurturing creativity and meeting the rigorous demands of production.
To successfully overcome this obstacle, I made it a priority to foster open and effective communication with my team members and to carefully streamline the entire design process.
This approach ensures that my artistic vision aligns with practical constraints while maintaining quality and originality.
What has been your proudest moment in your career ?
Designer Yannes Wong: My proudest moment in my career has undoubtedly been opening the physical store for my personal brand. It was truly a dream come true to see my designs beautifully displayed in a carefully curated space that perfectly reflects my unique vision and creative direction.
What is the most rewarding part of being a fashion designer?
Designer Yannes Wong:
The most rewarding part of being a fashion designer is witnessing the profound impact my creations have on others.
Seeing someone wear my designs with genuine confidence and pure joy brings an immense sense of satisfaction
and fulfillment that continually inspires me to create even more.

Designer Yannes Wong: Fashion is not just about clothing; it is a powerful form of self-expression that reflects your unique personality. I sincerely hope my designs inspire and empower you to fully embrace your individuality and exude confidence in every aspect of your life.
How do you unwind after a busy day of designing?
Designer Yannes Wong: After a busy day of designing, I unwind by spending quality time with my two children. Their laughter and energy bring me immense joy and help me relax completely.
