The Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza always has some beautiful lantern displays, and if you're in the area, it's always worth checking out as it's close to the Star Ferry Terminal and on the way to major hotspots in TST. Kids will love it.

Moon Fest Lumiere At Lee Tung Avenue
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at Lee Tung Avenue, one of Hong Kong’s most iconic pedestrian streets. Don’t miss Moon Fest Lumiere 2025, where over 800 colorful lanterns, including goldfish-shaped designs, light up the 200-meter tree-lined walkway, creating stunning photo opportunities. Enjoy extended hours until midnight on the festival day (6 October 2025) and weekends, with the magical lights glowing from 5pm. Highlights include Fire Dragon Dance performances, charity markets, workshops, and enchanting Chinese music by young talents—perfect for a festive family outing!

Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance
The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance is a dazzling Mid-Autumn Festival tradition in Hong Kong. Originating in the 19th century to ward off a plague, a massive dragon made of thousands of incense sticks winds through Tai Hang’s streets, carried by 300 performers. Now a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, it draws crowds for three nights of vibrant, fiery spectacle.

Mid-Autumn At Kai Tak Sports Park
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in elegant style at Kai Tak Sports Park until 13 October with the enchanting event A Celestial Mid-Autumn. Marvel at the impressive 5-meter tall glowing Jade Rabbit and luminous moon, perfect for capturing stunning photos by the shimmering water. Don’t miss the vibrant Light-Up Bubble Party from 4 to 7 October, featuring lively live music performances, exciting Magic AR experiences in collaboration with Hong Kong Disneyland, and the chance to indulge in exquisite cuisine at new waterfront dining venues such as Phaya Asura and La Baia.

Joyful Night, Moonlit Blue Exhibition at Blue House
Every Mid-autumn festival, Wan Chai’s iconic Blue House organises its annual “Joyful Night, Moonlit Blue” exhibition, where hand-painted lanterns decorate one of best heritage buildings in Hong Kong. Up to 700 lanterns are usually suspended from the building’s façade facing Stone Nullah Road and in the courtyard.

How to get there: Head to Wan Chai MTR Station (Exit A3) or the O’Brien Street tram stop, and turn left on to Spring Garden Lane from Johnston Road. Then turn left again on to Queen’s Road East. Walk another two minutes to reach Stone Nullah Lane.
Tai O Water Village Lantern Festival
Tai O, known as Hong Kong's Venice, features stilt houses, shrimp paste, and a lantern festival honoring the moon goddess Chang’e. Over 800 paper lanterns light the waterways, viewed best from Tai O Square’s mural. Visitors can join the Tai O Night Boat Parade on traditional sampans, showcasing lantern-lit boats and riverside displays. Online registration is recommended.

How to get there: Take the MTR to Tung Chung Station and take the No. 11 bus to Tai O. Alternatively, you can take the Mui Wo Ferry from Central Pier No. 6, and then take the No. 1 bus to Tai O. There is also a Tuen Mun-Tung Chung-Tai O ferry service.
